How to integrate Mailchimp to your website

Your Netzone CMS has the ability to integrate with MailChimp, meaning that you can add a section to the footer of your website to collect the email addresses of people who visit your website.

To enable your website to collect these email addresses, and file them within a dedicated list within your MailChimp account, your CMS needs two pieces of information from your MailChimp account:

1. An Account ID (API Key)

The first thing you will need is a MailChimp account, and to make sure that you have a  Manager permission level so that you can generate and view API keys from your account (users with Admin level permissions can also see API keys for other account users).

This API Key is your Mailchimp Account ID, and allows a connection to be established between your website and your Mailchimp account.

2. A List ID (Primary List ID)

Once your have your Mailchimp account information, we now need a List ID that will stores a list of email addresses that are collected on your website when a someone signs up or subscribes.

We can now add these two pieces of information to the CMS, and start collecting email addresses in a few easy steps:
1. Login to your website CMS by using the Login and Password provided to you, and scroll down the page until you get to the Advanced menu.

2. Click on "Mailchimp" and you will see the API Details tab with a series of fields for you to complete:

3. Within the API Details tab you will enter the API Key and Primary List ID in both the TEST and LIVE fields.

4. Let's now look at the Settings tab at the top of the page and set the text for the content that will populate in the footer.

5. Complete the fields for a Heading and Short Description (limited to 150 characters including spaces), then select Save at the top of the page.

Things to Remember:

  • If you don’t have a Mailchimp account yet, or aren’t planning on having one, make sure that all of the fields in the API Details tab are left blank, so that the Mailchimp module doesn’t appear on the front end of your website in the footer

  • You will also need to have set up an automated reply from Mailchimp to be sent to a subscriber that confirms they wish to opt-in to receive communications you.
